Scientific training with real world impact

Imagine using mathematical modeling to understand in vivo delivery, distribution and clearance of small molecules or investigating structure based fragmented screening protocols. Through the scientific intern program at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), your contribution to the search for new disease therapies can begin before you graduate. Our program is designed to introduce talented students to drug discovery and to train them in experimental work in this area.

As an intern, you will have an opportunity to conduct research under the guidance of a dedicated NIBR research mentor building on your existing research experiences. You will have a chance to learn new experimental protocols and techniques; gain experience in designing and executing experiments; and analyze the data you produce. You will also participate in journal clubs, weekly seminars and project discussion in group meetings. Moreover, you will have an opportunity to interact with other interns during social outings.

Summer Internship Computational Science

NIBR in Cambridge, MA has multiple 2012 Summer Scientific Internships available in the Computational Sciences. These roles will offer computer-based modeling projects related to biological or chemical systems. Students will have the opportunity to work on a specific scientific project with the potential to learn different approaches in molecular modeling and its potential applications in pharmaceutical research. Minimum requirements To be eligible for a Computational Biology Summer Scientific Internship students will have completed their undergraduate Sophomore year (by June 2012), and be majoring in a biological, chemistry or computer science program. Candidates would have completed at least one programming course before the start of the internship. All interns must have current authorization to work for any employer within the United States. Experience with MatLab, SQL, C++ and/or PERL experience is desired. PhD, MD level students are not eligible.

Pay: Hourly rates are based on the student s academic year completed.
