The Tax and Business Analyst is a key individual contributor and an essential part of our Payroll team. This exciting new role is responsible for ensuring adherence to all jurisdictional depositing and reporting requirements for Payroll and Sales and Use taxes. This may include understanding customer needs and jurisdictional requirements, assisting in the development of business cases, holding primary accountability for the development and documentation of business requirements and operational procedures, and design and documentation of functional and technical specifications and processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Analyze Payroll and Sales and Use Tax systems and/or business processes to identify user needs
* Analyze market practices, user interactions, applicable business practices and leading recordkeeping systems and make recommendations to implement
* Define market-accepted practices and correlating requirements with the ability to identify operations or process issues/improvements required to accomplish business objectives
* Encourage innovative ideas and reset expectations as needed
* Collect and manage Voice of the Business (VOB) and Voice of the Customer and Market (VOC/VOM) to consistently reinvent the way we approach processes and work in general
* Review market and competitive research, data analysis and variability mapping and assessment to create fact-based recommendations for process standardization
* Develop and document functional and technical release specifications
* Conduct readiness assessments/training for internal resources on the outsourcing solutions
* Assist with the preparation and filing of state and local taxes in accordance with the return due date
* Partner with ERP implementation team to automate the sales and use tax process
* Sales and use tax research and issues resolution
* Assist with sales and use tax audits
Skills / Requirements
* At least 5-7 years work experience
* Bachelors degree or relevant experience
* Experience in Payroll and/or Sales and Use business processes and data models including localizations for North America (including statutory and regulatory requirements)
* Tax, Treasury & Case Management processes/practices expertise
* Accruals, GL processing, and year-end business processes
* Experience in Payroll and/or Sales and Use tax compliant reporting inclusive of timely filings or amendments and interacting with tax authorities to resolve discrepancies
* Implementation and/or process improvement experience a plus
* Managerial experience a plus
