JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for supervision and working with work crews or work groups involved in a variety of work projects including but not limited to: construction, repair, or maintenance projects.  The work includes directing and assisting work crews, ensuring for the quality and completeness of work performed and assisting in the overall efficiency of project operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises motor equipment repairmen and provides information and technical assistance for difficult projects as needed.
  • Maintains and updates a log of repairs performed by mechanics and records the status of each project.
  • Performs the more difficult repair jobs, such as emission diagnostics, drivability diagnostics, wiring diagnostics, air system and brake diagnostics and overhaul of engines and diesel engine diagnostics.
  • Ensures for the proper repair of vehicles and inspects vehicles prior to their return to operation.
  • Ensures for personal safety, and the safety of the shop, follows established safety precautions, enforces safety requirements and wears safety equipment as appropriate while performing duties.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, changes oil, greases chassis, inspects vehicle for safety and proper working conditiions of parts.
  • Inspects and adjusts brakes and tires to ensure compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Diagnoses and repairs hydraulic systems, repairs, or replaces hoses or fittings, diagnoses and repairs electrical systems, repairs, replaces and/or installs new parts as needed.
  • Installs, repairs, and/or adjusts two-way radio systems, microphones and antennas.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five to seven (5-7) years of prior experience with onboard diagnostics (OBDII).
  • High school diploma or equivalent and additional training or certification.
  • A candidate for this position should have a valid Class A Massachusetts Commercial Driver’s License with Hoisting/Hydraulics endorsements.
  • Must have a Registered Emissions Repair Technician, Diesel and Automotive L1 and L2,
  • Must be a Registered Inspector for cars trucks and diesel engines and ASE Mechanics Certification.
