Research Study Coordinator (IHP STAFF)

A research coordinator is needed for federally funded projects to study neural function associated with cognition and learning in typically developing children and children with developmental language disorders. The projects involve the recording and analysis of Event Related Potentials (ERPs) extracted from EEG recorded from the scalp, and the administration and analysis of cognitive and language tests. Recruitment and communication with families are of major importance.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
2)Developing relationships with schools and clinics for the purpose of recruitment
3)Communication with families
4)Assisting with ERP data collection and analysis
5)Administering language and cognitive tests
6)Training and providing technical support for lab personnel
7)Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: conducting literature reviews, maintaining IRB protocols, organizing and maintaining databases.
8)Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
This is a 30-40 hour per week position that may include weekends. MGH IHP is located in the Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston, MA. Public transportation is available to the Navy Yard area.
Training / Time Required To Learn Job Responsibilities
Foundational programming skills are required; additional and higher-level skills will be taught on the job as needed.
Education & Experience Qualifications
Requirements: bachelor's degree in a scientific or social science/education field. The candidate must be comfortable and experienced working with children and families. Previous research experience with ERP studies is strongly preferred. Relevant coursework in psychology or neuroscience, and statistics, is desired. Prior experience with database management software (e.g. RedCap), Eprime software for task design, and Matlab coding is also helpful. The candidate must be self-motivated, independent, mature and able to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment. This position will provide invaluable experience for anyone interested in pursuing graduate study in the fields of communication sciences and disorders, medicine, experimental psychology, educational psychology or cognitive neuroscience.
Administrative Skills- database management (RedCap), IRB documents and procedures
Technical Skills- Eprime; Matlab; statistical analyses using R, SPSS
